Just a Note... We do not have a Web TV and these instructions were provided to
us as a courtesy. Please tell us if something is not correct !

     All parts of these instructions must be completed in order for your connection to work

Pre-set up instructions: You must have your Web TV fully connected

We can answer yes to all six questions as provided by Web TV. 

1. We support PPP (Point to Point Protocol)
2. We support PAP (Password Authentication Protocol)
3. Our speed at the local POP site for the access phone number is 56K
4. Please verify that there is a local access phone numbers for your calling area 
5. Freewwweb has no monthly payments required for full internet access with E-Mail included. 
6. Tech support is available 7 days a week.

Register for "Use an ISP" on screen via WebTV. 
You'll just select "Account" from the Web Home page and choose "Use an ISP" which will take you through step by step instructions.

Installing Dial-Up Networking
Double Click on "My Computer"
Double click on "Control Panel"
Double Click on "Add/remove programs"
Select "Windows set-up" tab at the top.
Highlight the "Communication" area (box checked)
Click the "Details" button
Click the "Dial-Up Networking" (box is checked)
Click "OK" & "OK" again, return to the desktop screen

Installing TCP/IP:   MOST WEB TV PROGRAMS HAVE THIS ALREADY

To verify this:

Double click on "My Computer"
Double click on "Control Panel"
Double click on "Network" icon
Click the "Configurations" tab
Check for a "Dial-Up adapter" in this window. If not, click  add
Click "Adapter". Choose "Microsoft", then "OK"
Click the "Configurations" tab. Note that there is a "TCP/IP"
    in the Network Protocol Window. If not, click "add" click Protocol,
    then "Add", pick Microsoft, then TCP/IP. Click OK, and OK again
Return to the desktop screen
Restart your computer when prompted to do so

(then start here)

Double click on "My Computer"
Double click on "Control Panel" 
Double click on "Network" icon
Click the "configuration" tab, highlight TCP/IP, click on Properties 
Click OK to the TCP/IP message if it appears
Click on the "DNS Configurations" tab, then click on "enable DNS" 
Inside the "host" box,  type      home
Inside the "domain" box,  enter     smartworld.net 
In the DNS server search order box, enter   216 . 70 . 64 . 1   click add 
In the DNS server box again, enter  216 . 70 .  64 . 2      click "add"
Caution: You may be prompted to insert Win 95 disk at this time for CAB files
Click "OK" and then "OK" again 
You will again be prompted to restart your computer. 

To Create a Desktop Icon
Double Click on My Computer
Double Click on Dial Up Networking
Double Click on Make a New Connection
Name the connection 
* (Each family member can have their own connection)
Click Next, Enter the phone number for Internet connection
Click Next, Click Finish

Did You Get An Error Message?

If your account has been successfully created and you get an error message  that says your  password is incorrect,  please make sure your user name in the "Connect To"  box shows  @freewwweb.com  after the name you selected.  Remember the password is  case sensitive  ( Is your Caps Lock button on ? )
