Why do I keep
getting disconnected while using my 56K modem ?
We have had some complaints about users getting
disconnected after a short time
while using their X2, or v.90 modem. We have spoken to
U.S.R. about this and they
have given us an Init string that seems to correct the
problem. Here are the
instructions for entering the new string:
1. Double click on the My computer icon
2. Double click on the Dial Up Networking icon
3. Right click once on the Freewwweb icon
4. Click on Properties
5. Click on the configure button at the bottom of the
window
6. Click on the Connection tab
7. Click on the Advanced button at the bottom of the
window
8. Then in the line marked: Extra Settings type in
this exactly as it appears here:
&f1&k0&i0s33=32s15=128s27=64

Why cant I
send or receive e-mail?
Before contacting technical support, check the
following:
1. Make sure you have established a connection. To
verify that you are connected, double click on your
freewwweb dialer icon. A "connected to" window
should pop up with the duration of the connection
increasing.
2. If you are prompted for a password, make certain
you are typing it in correctly (it is case sensitive).
Your e-mail password is the same as your log-in password.
3. Click on the "get mail" icon on the top
left of the task bar in the mail room to download mail to
your inbox.
4. To read a piece of mail, maximize your screen.
Click on the sender's name. The mail message should
appear in the lower section of the mail room window. Keep
in mind that the size of the three windows in the mail
room can be changed in proportion to each other by
clicking on and dragging the vertical or horizontal
divider. If there are messages in your inbox but you
can't read them, click on the bottom edge of the window
and drag it up. The mail message should appear
underneath.
5. If your mail starts to download but gets
"stuck", call technical support.
6. If you are using a program such as cybersitter or
netnanny, check that program's diagnostics to see if it
is holding back mail due to its content.
